My new novel, A Place for People Like Us, out with Guernica Editions this fall

Incredibly excited to share the beautiful cover of my upcoming Guernica Editions novel, A Place for People Like Us, which will be out this fall. The book’s designer, David Moratto, did such a beautiful job. And I’m so excited to be working with my wonderful editor, Michael Mirolla again. Guernica Editions is such an incredible publisher, and I’m so grateful to get to work with the whole amazing team.

The title for this book, which is about a complicated friendship and family, came from a line in one of my favourite short story collections of all time, Jesus’s Son, my Denis Johnston. The story is called Beverly Place, and is the final story in the collection. The line is “ I never imagined, not even for a heartbeat that there would be a place for people like us,” and it both encapsulated and inspired the whole story.
