I’m incredibly excited that my new novel, A Place for People Like Us, will be published on Oct 1st by Guernica Editions🧡📚

The title was inspired by the last line in one of my favourite short stories, Beverly Home, the final story in Denis Johnson’s incredible collection Jesus’ Son. “All those weirdos, and me getting a little better everyday right in the midst of them. I had never known, not even for a heartbeat, that there might be a place for people like us.”

A Place for People Like Us is a novel about friendship and identity and community and I’m really excited to get to share it with you.

Today, I was really honoured to get this blurb from the wonderful Anita Kushwaha whose books I love so much 💗📚

“Like all novels that linger in the heart and mind long after they’re read, A Place for People Like Us is a journey. With honesty, nuance and empathy, Botha shares profound insights into the complexities and complications of identity, belonging and relationships, perhaps most importantly, the one we have with ourselves.”

Anita Kushwaha, Author, author of Secret Lives of Mothers and Daughters 💗

Thank you again so much. I can’t wait to share this with all of you soon. In the meantime, please feel free to preorder:

Or even better, from your local Canadian bookstore 🧡🧡📚
